Garden Rock Painting

Hello Friends,

I painted this rock for a friend who wanted it for her garden. The Challenge was not to change the appearance of the rock i.e. not painting it as a whole.

I had to preserve the rocky appearance as it was, plus make it weather proof since it was going to be placed outside in the garden. Another Challenge i faced was that the rock was highly porous in nature so it was absorbing a lot of water and paint. I did overcome all these and had a fun time doing this project. I also created some garden accessories (flowers, ladybugs and Mr. Caterpillar) using polymer clay to go along with it.

The whole piece was then covered with one coat of gloss and two coats of varnish to make it weather proof.

In addition to above, I also painted a river pebble to be used as a paperweight.
